Awards & recognition

Recognition for showing up, not just ranking up.

CKSTEM has two award streams. Contest medals reward performance against an objective standard. Leadership Awards recognize habits, integrity, and effort — what we believe actually compounds long-term.

Performance

Contest medals

Six Canadian Innovation Contests + four global olympiads. Medals are awarded against the published distribution for each contest.

  • Gold — top 1%
  • Silver — top 2–3%
  • Bronze — top 4–6%
  • Honors — top 7–10%

~90% of CKSTEM students who enter contests earn medal-tier recognition.

Character

Leadership Awards

Monthly recognition awarded by instructors based on what they observe in class — not test scores. We reward the things that actually predict long-term success: showing up, asking questions, helping classmates, finishing what you start.

  • Curiosity — asking why, not just what
  • Discipline — consistent effort over time
  • Integrity — honest work, honest answers
  • Service — helping the cohort, not just yourself

Recipients are announced monthly in class and at the annual award ceremony.

Past winners

Annual contest results, medal distributions, and the full honor roll for each Canadian Innovation Contest are published on the CIC site.
