1. Who we are
"CKSTEM" means Competitive Kids STEM Projects, a Canadian, volunteer-run, registered non-profit organization based in Ontario, Canada. "You" means anyone using our websites, learning platform, or contest pipeline.
2. What's covered
These terms cover three things:
- This marketing site at www.competitivekids.org and the contest hub at cic.competitivekids.org.
- The Moodle learning platform at learn.competitivekids.org (your course access).
- Contest registration and participation for any CKSTEM-run contest (CIC contests, partnered olympiads).
3. Course enrollment and payment
- Course fees are payable in 1, 2, or 4 instalments. See current pricing.
- The first session of any course is refundable if you decide CKSTEM isn't right for your child — request the refund within 7 days of the first session.
- After the refund window, fees are non-refundable but may be transferred to a sibling or partial credit applied to a different course at our discretion.
- Discounts (early-bird, multi-course, sibling) are applied at checkout and cannot be combined retroactively.
4. Contest registration
- Contest entry is bundled with several CKSTEM courses. Standalone contest registration may be available depending on the contest — see the contest page.
- Contest results are final once published. We do not offer regrade requests after the published appeal window for each contest closes.
- Awards (medals, certificates) are mailed within 6–8 weeks of results publication.
5. Acceptable use
Don't:
- Share your Moodle login with anyone outside your household.
- Distribute course materials, contest questions, or solutions outside CKSTEM channels.
- Use any part of this site or learning platform to harass, dox, or harm others.
- Attempt to access systems you're not authorized to access.
6. Intellectual property
Course materials, contest questions, and the CKSTEM brand are our intellectual property. You may use them for your own learning and for non-commercial educational purposes within your family. Any reproduction or distribution requires written permission.
7. Disclaimers
We do our best to keep the platform up and content accurate. CKSTEM does not guarantee that the site will always be available, that contest dates won't change, or that course outcomes will match every family's expectations. We work hard but we're a non-profit, not Apple.
8. Liability
To the extent allowed by Canadian law, CKSTEM's total liability for any claim related to your use of our sites or programs is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If we change anything material to enrolled families, we'll email you and post a banner on this page for 30 days.
