Learn. Compete. Win. · 2026–27

A contest for every kind of thinker.

A contest gives children a chance to try unfamiliar problems, express an original idea and discover what they can do. Explore the subjects and formats below, choose a suitable challenge, then use the calendar to plan your year.

Start with your child

Choose an interest. Understand the challenge.

Some children enjoy solving a mathematical puzzle; others would rather tell a story, make art or argue a thoughtful case. Start with a subject your child likes and check the entry level, format and preparation advice on its contest page.

CIC brings six subjects together around an annual theme. The Mathematics Olympiads offer a heat-to-final pathway. Bebras introduces computing through logic puzzles. CNML adds another mathematics opportunity, with dates to be announced.

Six subjects · 2027 theme: Leadership

Canadian Innovation Contests

Leadership begins with thoughtful choices. Through mathematics, science, computing, art, writing and speaking, students explore how to take initiative, earn trust and help others work towards a shared purpose.

For families

Know what happens next.

Read the contest guide before registering. A timed contest is one sitting; a submission window gives time to prepare work. Olympiad finals and the Public Speaking final require qualification.

Current fees and any arrangements still being confirmed are identified on each guide. Contact CKSTEM about entry or choosing a contest.

For schools

Plan as a group.

Choose suitable contests and appoint a coordinator. For CIC timed contests, arrange a supervised sitting within April 1–16. Art and Speaking use their March submission windows.

Olympiad heats use a repeatable Saturday schedule: the last Saturday of November for TIMO, the second Saturday of February for BBB, and the last Saturday of April for HKIMO.

Questions parents often ask

Does my child need to take every contest?

No. Choose a suitable subject and level, with enough time to prepare comfortably. Each contest is a separate opportunity.

Does a heat entry include the final?

No. TIMO, BBB and HKIMO have separate heat and final registrations. Qualifying students receive instructions for the final; entering it is optional.

Is programming needed for computing contests?

Bebras uses logic and computational thinking without requiring programming experience. CICC also develops patterns, algorithms and reasoning; prior coding is optional.

Where can I find previous results?

CIC 2026 results and past contest winners are available separately from this season’s entry information.
